Step 3 - Buffing
Below I will be stepping you through the Manicure Tips associated with Buffing.
Fingernail Buffing is the art of making your nails smooth and shiny. And if you happen to have any ridges or stains on your nails, we can improve that here too!!
Buffing the finger nails is made possible by using a 3 Way Buffer – it can also be called a Girlfriend Buffer which I guess has something to do with smoothing out rough surfaces....??
When to Buff??
Buffing is needed when the surface of the nail is not smooth or if no nail polish is to be applied. If you are planning on using nail polish, and your nails are smooth, you can skip this step.
Best Buffing Technique
- Always buff in 1 direction only
- Buff from the matrix to the free edge until the nail appears shiny.
- Use a 3 Way Buffer and start buffing using the roughest part (black section in buffer shown).
- Then buff using the intermediate part (white section).
- Finish buffing with the smoothest side (silver section).
- Once you have completed all finger nails, apply Cuticle Oil onto the cuticle line and massage into the skin. This is used to help nourish the dry skin.
Try to keep the speed under control – if you start feeling heat in your nail, please slow down to prevent your nail from drying out.
All Done!! - Where to Now??
And that is Buffing completed, next on our journey is the relaxing step of learning how to perform a Hand and Arm Massage.
