The man nail care steps below should give you an idea of what would be done to your nails in a salon or by a friend:- Filing - Your nails will be made shorter using an emery board so the edge of the nails will be smooth.
- Cuticle Care
- Cuticle remover will be applied to your cuticles, then your hands will be soaked in warm water for 2-5 minutes.
- Pushing up Cuticle - The dead skin on the nails will be pushed up and scraped off.
- Removing Cuticle - The excess skin at the base of the nail will be cut off with a cuticle nipper.
- 3. Buffing - The surface of your nails will be made smooth using a buffer. Any lines on your nails can be improved too!
- 4. Cuticle Oil - Will be applied to your nails and cuticles to provide moisture and prevent flaking.

It is important to maintain healthy nails, and this goes for men as well as women. Unfortunately, most men believe this isnt for them, but that is far from the truth, as the saying goes, your body is your temple – nails included!!- Do not use your nails as a tool to perform other tasks – and yes, this means no using them as screwdrivers!!
- Extra buffing is required for men’s nails because nail polish is generally not used. This will make sure the nails stay shiny and look healthy.
- It is vitally important to keep your nails clean by washing them regularly, especially after doing outdoor activities.
- Apply hand cream after washing your hands.
- Apply foot cream regularly, especially after showering, as the cream absorbs into the skin more effectively after it is wet.
- Wear gloves when gardening or washing dishes to protect your nails from bacteria and helps prevent your hands from drying out by harmful detergents and sunlight.
- Try to avoid cutting your nails too short, this can be achieved by using an emery board instead of a nail clipper.
