Acrylic Nail Care Tips
Lets take a look at the acrylic nail care steps needed to maintain sparkling acrylics!!Acrylic Fill-In
Fill-in is used to refill the acrylic in the cuticle area as the natural nail grows. Normally fill-in is needed 2 weeks after application of acrylic nails or when acrylics on the cuticle area start lifting.- File down the acrylics on the cuticle area where the lifts are(shown as blue circles in the picture below). Please be careful not to buff the natural nail.
- To reduce the gap between acrylics and the nail plate you can use a sponge buffer to buff the gap until it disappears.
- Push up the cuticles and dust off the nails
- Apply a pre-primer or dehydrator onto the natural nails.
- Apply the primer on the natural nails. Do not allow the primer to touch the skin as it is highly acidic and can cause burning on the skin.
- Take a small amount of acrylic mixture and apply onto the cuticle area. Stroke with a brush to make the surface smooth.
- Apply a small amount of mixture on the new high point
- Start buffing when acrylics are dry. Buff with 180 grit file, then Sponge buffer, then shiner to make the surface smooth and even. This step is explained in more detail in Stage 3 - Nail Extensions
- Apply cuticle oil to finish.
